About AXA

AXA Design is based in Brisbane, Australia.

Axa's product range has been developed by customers. How? Before these products were born, we often worked on projects (in an allied field) and saw time and time again that customers requirements were all too often not met.

Not by poor design or neglect, but often because the solutions available were not as 'user friendly' as they needed to be, could not be 'customised' to suit that client or just would not fit in the budget. We soon found ourselves developing a range of cost effective and flexible audio distribution systems. Systems which are by no means 'feature packed' but offer all of the most commonly required features (and some quite unique ones) and more importantly, provide numerous control options that provide powerful, yet simple, end user operation that can be tailored to suit any client.

We have also designed specific products for a number of clients, but whether this service is available depends on our resources at the time.

                                                                       AXA Residentual Audio

The residential distribution system allows up to 16 music source to be sent to up to 16 different rooms throughout a house. Each room can select its source and adjust its volume, bass & treble independently from any other room.

The EM50 is housed in a 2RU 19inch rack mount, solid black anodized aluminium and powder coated steel case.

                                                                       AXA Commercial Audio

The Matrix Frame is a modular commercial audio system. The key feature of this system is how easily the number of audio zones can be increased in the future to cater to a growing venues needs. Its flexibility, expandability and the number of ways the system can be controlled provides a very powerful audio distribution solution. The system has been designed to be controlled from where ever the client needs control over the audio system, hence there are no controls on the front of the frame (which may live 'back-of-house' somewhere in an equipment rack). The functions of the frame (Source selection, Mixing, Volume, Bass, Treble, Infrared Control, etc.) are all remotely controlled over a multi-drop RS485 communications bus. Any number of control panels can be added to the system in the location best suited to the operator and programmed with the appropriate functions for that location. Controls can include push buttons, paging consoles, time clocks, motion detectors, Auxiliary contact inputs even 3rd party control systems with touch screens etc.

The Matrix Frame also provides the ability to dynamically link up to 8 audio zones in any combination. Making it ideal for large function and conference centres that have rooms which can be divided into different combinations. Control panels can even be 'locked out' under certain room combinations or if control is only required from a main point like the 'Bio-Box'.

The Matrix Frame is designed into a 3RU 19" Euro Card Frame and has capacity to hold 4 input cards (up to 32 Mono Sources) and 8 Auxiliary card (up to 32 Audio Zones). Currently there are 2 types of input cards available and 4 types of Output cards;

8 Mono Balanced Input Card. Has jumper selections between Line, Microphone or Aux levels on each input and individual trim pots to adjust the gain of each input to achieve a good balance between the sources.

                               AXA Input Cards

4 Stereo Unbalanced Input Card. Line level only with individual trim pots to adjust the gain of each input to achieve a good balance between the sources.

                               AXA Output Cards

4 x Mono Balanced Zone Card. Provides INDIVIDUAL source selection and mixing and Volume, Bass and Treble to each Balanced output. Each output connects directly to a Balanced or Unbalanced Power Amp suitable rated to the number of speakers in that zone.

4 x Stereo Unbalanced Zone Card. Provides INDIVIDUAL source selection and mixing and Volume, Bass and Treble to each Unbalanced output. Each output connects directly to an Unbalanced Power Amp suitable rated to the number of speakers in that zone.

8 x IR Output Card. Provides the ability to transmit most common IR commands (40Khz, non-cyclic) and provides 8 outputs which can be individually addressed for control of source equipment. IR codes are programmed and learnt by connecting to the PC programming software .

IR code playback is then available from any control panel.

                                                              AXA Digital Audio Distribution

                                                                           AXA Digital Audio

The AXA CN Series is a modular audio distribution system that minimizes cabling, and provides flexibility for system expansion (increase in inputs and / or zone outputs). Cable minimization is achieved using Ethernet for control and digital audio. The CN Series has an Ethernet serial bridge which provides DyNet control to all CN Series devices on the network. Optional Power over Ethernet allows flexibility in installation location by providing power to the CN Series modules.

The system allows up to 32 bi-directional stereo audio channels (ie: 64 stereo channels) to be sent over a 100MBit Ethernet network using standard Ethernet cabling and equipment. The system is completely modular so CNI4A (input modules) can be placed wherever inputs are located and CNO4 (output modules) can be located in close proximity to audio zone power amplifiers.

The AXA CN Series provides the option to move away from traditional centralized audio distribution systems. This provides the following benefits:

  • Power, Control and Digital Audio over a single Cat5 Ethernet cable
  • Ability to distribute any input to any output on the network
  • The system is expanded by adding more input / output modules
  • Uncompressed 24 Bit @ 48kHz sample rate high quality audio
  • CobraNet SNR 146.24dB / THD 0.0000049% and Frequency response 0 to 24kHz
  • Real Time Audio Distribution over Ethernet
  • Very low latency removes issues with audio and video sync
  • Fully Integrated DSP core with the ability for custom designs
  • 7 Band Parametric EQ including Rock/Pop/Jazz/Classical presets
  • DyNet control sent between modules over Ethernet
  • Network transmission distance is 100m over Cat5 copper cable (IEE802.3u)
  • Channel capacity can be increased 10 times by using Gigabit Ethernet
  • Allows coexistence of ordinary computer data on the same network
  • Provides easy integration to other CobraNet™ devices
  • Supports Power over Ethernet (IEE802.3af)
  • Australian designed / manufacture
